Biography:                     Alida D'Angona graduated from Gordon College, where she studied Communications and earned a Bachelors degree in Biology. Combining her passion for biology and public speaking, Alida pursued an internship in the biotech industry which launched her career at Genzyme, one of the foremost biotech companies in the world. Alida's life after college presented her with many unique opportunities to present groundbreaking research to several scientific communities. In 2010, Alida was accepted as a member of the American Society for Pharmacology and Experimental Therapeutics. She enjoys presenting her work and traveling all over the country, and is looking forward to traveling even more during her reign as Miss Massachusetts USA.
Alida is extremely passionate about her work with the Christopher Elliot Foundation for Brain Cancer Research, as her uncle was recently diagnosed with Brain Cancer. She recently organized and led a fundraiser to raise funds and awareness for Brain Cancer Research. Alida considers the fundraiser one of the most inspirational and meaningful weekends of her life. She plans to continue the fight to find a cure for Brain Cancer through research, increasing awareness, and raising funds. Alida has been active spending her free time helping several young ladies achieve their goals as leaders in community charity events. Alida has also enjoyed volunteering at an orphanage in Costa Rica where she has helped re-build homes and provide opportunities for disadvantaged children. She is looking forward to working with many more charitable organizations throughout the year.

Alida comes from a family of musicians and attributes this background to instilling in her a strong work ethic, perseverance, and discipline. Alida enjoys playing the piano, the trumpet and singing. By dabbling in these forms of creative expression, Alida has found her niche as one of New England's top female deejays. Alida has travelled all over the east coast as a professional DJ and loves to get the crowd excited with fresh, live re-mixes.

Besides staying active in her community, Alida enjoys hiking, swimming, horseback riding, and snowboarding. She believes it is important to live a healthy, well-balanced lifestyle. Alida's other favorite thing to do with her free time is to spend time with her family. She is the youngest of four girls, and looks up to her sisters as strong, confident role models. She is very excited to share this once in a lifetime opportunity with them!
